Best. News. Ever.

hummer.jpg

Okay, so the latest news restored my faith in humanity a bit.  Are you ready?  Are you really ready???

The Hummer is going to be put down!  Yes, that is correct, you heard me right, the Hummer is going to be discontinued. Sadly, it won't be until 2014.  But STILL.  This is beautiful.  We live in a world where the Hummer DIDN'T WIN!

Apparently, with gas prices rising, the Hummer is losing popularity.  Imagine that.  And, with the mainstreaming of the green movement, GM doesn't seem to like having their iconic car being equated with evil.  Ha!  So, I love it, they are going to switch from the Hummer to the Chevy Volt, which is a plug-in hybrid, which will sell for about $35,000, and looks pretty fancy shmancy.  Look for it in 2011, or thereabouts.

Yes.  Yes!  YES!

Do I really need to say more?

Lets go Smart car for town! That Hummer probably saved a couple people. In the 70's U.S. Automakers weren't ready with economical cars when the gas went to an unbelievable $.79/gal and in came Toyota.

That's great news, but 2014 is a long ways away!!! Hopefully they'll move up the discontinuation date...

Plug in Prius expected in 2009, although that causes its own problems (shifting pollution by adding more strain to the electrical grid).

Yep Mortie, this is why I sing the praises of the bicycle. Um, sing the praises, but yet don't ride it as often as I should. ;)
